His s dream kept tangling and tearing each other apart, like those relics of ancient scrolls that hard to be separated. Half of it was history non-existed, the other half was future never happened.

He opened up his eyes. Artificial light lit up the crowded living capsule. Something went wrong with the temperature control. The heat twisted his view.

Every time he woke up, he had to ask himself,

In whose living dream he was, or dying limbo?

The annoying voice that vent made was covered by the noise from the alley outside. He climbed up to the window, only to find the young gangsters were rioting again.

He felt dizzy, then startled to see Kissling already armed himself. The young man’s leaning beside the window, staring outside with caution, firearm clenching in his hand.

He’s about to ask when Lynch burst into the room, shouting and dragging him out of the door from his bed,

‘Thanks to you, you brilliant fortune teller!’

‘What the …’

Kissling already prepared and caught up with them in time with all the luggage.

Lynch led the way, finally got back his breath and announced,

‘The Rebel… the Alliance invaded!’

The young men bracing the revolution marched towards Yang’s residence, urged Lynch to hand in Yang and join the Alliance Army.

‘Long live the Dem**ocracy! Long live the Fr**eedom! Hand in the traitor and join the revolution!’

Yang exposed himself during the last operation after all.

‘For Odin’s sake! Yang saved you bu*tards’ as* during the last battle!’

‘Bagdashu…?’

Yang surprisingly recognized one of those led the crowd. A name slipped out from his mouth.

He couldn’t help stepping back. The Alliance intelligence already filtered in. It’s the final thing that occurred to him.

‘Your acquaintance?’

Lynch was pushed into the crowds by Kissling before he could get any answer, disturbing the crowds. He hardly slipped away with Yang through side alley before anyone could notice.

In the July of UC796/RC497, the Freedom Planets’ Alliance set up the temporary headquarter in the Fortress Iserlohn. One 22nd August, 30 million started out from the capital Heinessen, marched through previous invincible chasm, directly into the territories of the Reich.

Both sides initially exchanged fires near the Reich side of the Alley, outside System Altina, for two weeks. The Reich fleets were outnumbered and finally retreated. The major force led by the nobles lose morale quickly and never got recovered.

Their commander, Marshall Muckenberger was fatally injured and sent back to Odin immediately. He submitted resignation letter shortly afterwards. The ministers failed to decline this time, then the commanding system went into mess. They failed to reorganize any counterattack. The battle line kept wavering further, shattering like fallen leaves.

In the next 2 weeks, the Alliance’s crusades extended over 100 light years further, occupying over 50 residential systems, claiming thousands of habitations, without receiving any resistance.

Along their way, imperial administrative systems and local guards dismissed quickly. Countless nobles and loaded proprietors fled overnight from their homelands. Their mansions were robbed by mobs.

Pieces of files and accounts were left over on precious carpets covered by muddy footprints, then by giant shadows casting down from the Alliance space battleships outside the windows.

‘We are here to free you up!’

So did the Officers from Revitalization Committee under the Alliance Liberation Fleets tell the locals, mostly slaves and unregistered labors.

The Liberation Fleets shortly announced multiple measures to cancel all the injustice regimes. They abolished the noble castes, reassigned lands, lift taxes, and opened up franchised business. People organized Revolution Guardians, Temporary Committees to cooperate with all the reforms.

Wherever the Liberation Troops went, people gathered and hailed, on their knees.

As the vehicles drove along the streets, Widborn taunted,

‘They kneel us as they do to the Emperor and the lords.’

Holland sneered back,

‘We hailed the democracy in the same way back in homeland.’

Widborn silenced in anger, then gave up to refute and looked away.

Unlike so-called ‘Grumpy Widborn’, most of the commanders and the Liberation Fleet were immersed in some kind of optimism that resembled festival balloons filling up the room.

It also burst like balloons.

By mid-September, the Liberation Fleet occupied System Altina, Ameriza and Bodien, including over 100 habitual planets. However, these areas were all not fit to set up interim bases. Most of the areas were hard to defend.

Their invasion was also dragged by remaining troops in System Feulgen and System Wallenstein. The former was commanded by Reinhardt v. Musel’s famous Schwarzer Lancer, joined by former Reich’s stationary Fleet of Iserlohn Fortress. The latter were stationed by the joint fleet of Commander Reuental and Mittermeyer. The two happened to jointly intersect the exit of a narrowed area that the Liberation Fleet could only pass through on their only feasible way of further expedition.

Reich’s remaining troops were outnumbered, but fought with prudence. As long as the Alliance crossed the middle line, they attacked furiously. When the Alliance retreated back, they backed off likewise, never wasted a slime slice of their resources.

The Alliance was stopped at the First Defense Belt and never got to push forward. They were also hindered by their own ailing supply as the Fortress never fully recovered the functions. The Alliance had to give up at the verge of their arms’ reach.

During the weeks coming, Reinhardt did not make any further movements. It was widely suspected and cursed that he was negotiating with the administration for recent disputes, leveraging on the current national crisis.

In fact, the tensions were indeed eased by external threats. However it was the administration fearful for his troops and refrained from ordering full mobilization.

By late August Reinhardt had kept urging the ministers to take actions,

‘Now the only solution left is comprehensive strategic retreat. Lure them into out vast territories, stretch their transport lines, increase pressure on their supply, and drag them into prolonged warfare. ’

This requires not only giving up territories, but also paralyzing local infrastructure systems, such as transport, communications, energy and food supply.

All the other in the conference muted in shock.
